About Katherine's Situation
Katherine is a freshman at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy who lives in Barrington, NH. On her 6th day of school, Katherine was experiencing the worse migraine she has ever had. After a few hours of it not getting better and uncontrollable vomiting, her mother took her to the local emergency room. A CAT scan revealed that she had a brain tumor. She was rushed to Boston’s Children’s Hospital where she underwent immediate brain surgery. The surgery was successful in that the tumor was removed. However, there have been a plethora of issues that have followed the surgery, which included an infection in the body, a collapsed lung, a mini stroke, a trachea tube, and swelling in her brain which resulted in a shunt being installed.
Presently it is just one day at a time and a lot of well wishes. Friends of Katherine have come together and formed United for Katherine and have planned and implemented fundraising events with the money going into an account for her parents to help off-set the cost of the living and travel expenses, the fees for parking at the hospital garage and for food for them to eat while they are at the hospital staying by Katherine’s side. Katherine's mom has left her job to be with her every day.
